Why?

Why should we study the Holocaust?

Richard von Weizsazcher, President of West Germany from 1984-1994, said, "Whoever refuses to remember the inhumanity is prone to risks of new infection."

These pictures are what this quote makes me think of:

Children forced to fight in the Congo

Bosnians starved in a concentration camp (1996)

Everyone who fails to admit the brutality and savagery of the Holocaust is more likely to begin a repeat of history. Bosnia, Rwanda, Darfur, and the Congo are examples of modern genocide.

We should learn about the Holocaust so no one else should have to experience the pain, starvation, and (eventually) death of the millions who have already.

Our government should take a stand. Not just send money, or make political threats, such as cutting off trade, but do something to stop it all, right here, right now. The citizens of the US who are protesting on this very day (in my mind) are very noble and in a way, correct, to be taking a stand for the victims of genocide.

We can prevent another repeat of history.
